Rogers’, respectively, if to conduct their comparison. The first major difference is that the focus of Parse’s theory is directed on the quality of living from each person’s viewpoint, while Rogers’ theory identifies the only focus of nursing as “the irreducible human being and its environment, both defined as energy fields” (Petiprin, b, 2016; Smith & Parker, 2014, p. 238). The second diversity between these theories is their basic concepts, where the Parse’s theory is regulated by the ideas of purpose, rhythmicity, and transcendence (Petiprin, b, 2016). At the same time, Rogers’ framework is presented by such concepts as an “energy field, openness, pattern, pan-dimensionality, homodynamic principles, resonance, helicy, and integrality” (Petiprin, a, 2016). However, these two theories also have a common point. It may be detected in how the theorists of both directions view people as unitary beings, who consist of physiological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual factors (Petiprin, b, 2016). If to choose which one of the theories was more appropriate for my nursing practice, I would prefer being guided by Parse’s theory of nursing. First, it is because this theory is a mixture of different realms of healthcare and does not favor any factors, which determine human life. Secondly, the image of the human as a creature of “body-mind-spirit whose health is considered a state of biological, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being” is closer to the views I have always had on the nature of health (Smith & Parker, 2014, p. 264-265). Therefore, among the two compared theoretical frameworks, I would choose the Parse’s human becoming paradigm of nursing for my practice because it is more universal and more corresponding to my personal views on nursing.
