Strategies For Academic Portfolios Discussion
Respond to at least two of your colleagues’ posts by offering additional ideas regarding academic achievements to include or offering alternative ways of presenting the current achievements.
An academic portfolio is a compilation of records showcasing one’s educational and training quality, academic accomplishments, experiences, and professional development initiatives (Casey & Egan, 2010). In order to enhance my brand and establish a strong presence in my field, I will focus on continuously refining and expanding my academic portfolio. This will not only increase my visibility but also add credibility to my work, ultimately helping me achieve my career goals. Strategies For Academic Portfolios Discussion
To incorporate academic activities and accomplishments into my professional development goals, I plan on utilizing electronic portfolios, also known as E-portfolios. E-portfolios are an effective way for nurses to showcase their talents and skills, and highlight what makes them unique; these digital collections will document specific achievements, competencies, and learning outcomes, showcasing growth over time (McMillan et al., 2014). By using an E-portfolio, I can demonstrate my abilities to potential employers and allow them to get to know me more personally, beyond what is listed on my resume.

As an additional strategy I will create a plan and outline the necessary steps to achieve my goals; thus, helping me visualize my path and stay organized as I gradually develop my portfolio (Laureate Education, 2018). My planned outline will be a comprehensive highlight of not just my academic accomplishments and coursework, but also my professional growth, certifications, and skills. Also, by filing my information chronologically, I can easily review and make necessary edits to ensure my work maintains a professional appearance. Strategies For Academic Portfolios Discussion

Thank you for the post. My colleague has stated they will be utilizing electronic portfolios to incorporate academic accomplishments and achievements into their professional development goals. I would like to mention that using an e-portfolio technology will not reduce or remove the need for individual to reflect on their learning or practice. As indicated by Cusack and Smith (2020), if an individual finds themselves simply following a menu and uploading files without putting into account the connection between their learning, their achievement, or their future goals, then they need to ask themselves if that is really a portfolio activity. It is crucial to note that utilizing the electronic medium in storing, structuring and presenting portfolios does not offer different opportunities and challenges f rom paper-based portfolios. A part form including electronically mediate/ digital files suck as online learning tools, blog entries, and video clips, e-portfolio platforms also include search facilities for managing files and also templates for structuring and presenting individual’s work.
The e-portfolio needs to offer potential employers a full picture of the individual as a nursing professional, when one has been a recent graduate or in practice for years. An individual should provide basic information, including name, contact information, education, and certifications. Professionally taken pictures should be included so that employers can have a visual representation of the individual. It is important to embed a resume with the option to print and certifications and work experiences should be included in the resume. A practicing nurse should include information about their clinical positions, research, quality improvement projects, and both formal and informal leadership roles (Hannans & Olivo, 2017). Professional development utilizing a framework such as SMART can be included in the e-portfolio. According to Arnott et al. (2021), goals for professional portfolio do not need to be focused only on the attainment of clinical skills or tasks, but should be focused on the development of professional capability across domains, continuing educations and career development. For example, if a nurse aspires to have a goal to develop confidence and skills in offering workplace learning, the nurse can document activities that will enable them achieve these goals, such as attending in-service education of clinical education models.
